Elmo Langley drove the pace car at major NASCAR events up until his death on Nov. 21, 1996, at age 68. The Landover, Md., native competed in what is now the Sprint Cup Series from 1954 through 1981. Langley’s only two victories occurred in 1966, when he drove his No. 64 Ford to victories in Spartanburg, S.C., and Manassas, Va.
