There’s no danger of Daytona’s controversial ending dying down, thanks to Kyle Busch.

After a supposedly conciliatory phone conversation, Busch said, en route to an untidy victory, that Stewart “dumped” him with the finish line in sight last week. He also suggested that Stewart should’ve been black-flagged; in other words, that Stewart’s victory should’ve been overturned.

The ending was, in songwriter Tom T. Hall’s words, “not the type of thing one would write Mother about.” Stewart’s Chevrolet repeatedly “worked on” Busch’s rear bumper, but it was Busch’s blocking that caused the crash.

Had the roles been reversed, something very similar would’ve happened.
